Upgrade Your Rifton Activity Chair

Tools and Parts Included:

• T45 Torx L-wrench
• 7/32” and 5/32” L-wrenches
• T27 and T20 T-handle wrenches
• 9/16” hex wrench
• New foot pedal parts with screws
• Bolts, spring hooks, pump plates, and Directional Assist Wheel subassembly

Preparation:

1. Pump the chair up halfway and lock both front casters, ensuring they point back as shown.
2. Remove the abductor, tray, and any other front protruding accessories.
3. Flip up the foot plate and tuck the footboard under the seat, sliding the seat depth adjustment all the way in.
4. Flip the chair forward to rest on the armrests.

Removing Obsolete Components:

5. Remove the direction lock from the rear right caster by unscrewing and sliding out the plunger.
6. Remove the outdated red trigger if present, using the appropriate tool based on your chair’s age. Discard these components.
7. Using the provided tool, remove the old foot pedal parts and screws, then discard them.

Installing New Pump Plates:

8. Position yourself comfortably to work on removing and replacing the pump plates.
9. Use the appropriate L-wrench and a 9/16” open-ended wrench to remove bolts and nuts.
10. Install the new pump plates, ensuring proper orientation with studs facing upwards.
11. Thread the torx-drive 3/8” bolts loosely at first, then tighten them firmly.

Assembling the Foot Pedal:

12. Attach the new foot pedal by fitting the black rim notch over the handle and inserting the white base from below. Tighten the screws securely.

Final Assembly:

13. Insert the two spring hooks into the pump plate slots as shown, ensuring they face up and attach the springs.
14. Thread the wheel assembly onto the pivot plate studs and rotate it into position until it snaps securely.
