Achieving Optimal Standing Outcomes with the New Rifton Stander

For children with disabilities who have limited weight-bearing ability, using adaptive standers helps prevent contractures, improves range of motion and hip health, and decreases the risk of fractures. Rifton’s brand new pediatric stander was designed with the needs of young children in mind and provides positioning options in accordance with the most up to date evidence around the benefits of early standing.
The new small size stander fits children 28 to 42 inches in height. This means that children with disabilities can be positioned in standing at the same age as their typically developing peers as the research recommends. With its prone and supine configurations, the new Rifton stander has a multitude of positioning options for children of varying abilities. Independent leg abduction adjustment, a variety of supports and straps, medial and lateral pads, and the footplates and sandal with adjustable straps are among the new features which allow the stander to be custom fit to nearly every need. Additionally, the new stander “grows” alongside the growing child with easy and tool free adjustments.
Additionally, as transferring children from one device to the next can be difficult, the design of this new stander provides the option for simpler and safer transfers for both the child and the caregiver. The innovative base design and ability to adjust the stander up and down and tilt from horizontal to vertical allow for ease of transfer between equipment as part of a postural management program. The soft padded body support and comfort of the straps ensures happy and secure standing for all users.
